Oxford entertaining.
The standard
it quietly expects.

Bespoke private dining for Oxford's finest residences — from a dinner party in a North Oxford Victorian house to a long summer lunch in a converted farmhouse in the Oxfordshire countryside. Seasonal, considered, and done to the standard the occasion quietly demands.

Oxford has a particular
way of entertaining.

Oxford has a particular kind of expectation that is easy to underestimate. The city's professional class — academics, consultants, architects, senior medical professionals, the families connected to the university and its colleges — entertain with genuine intellectual investment. A dinner party in North Oxford or Summertown is rarely about appearance. It is about quality: the quality of the conversation, the quality of the wine, and, very much, the quality of the food.

The homes here reflect this. The large Victorian Gothic houses along Norham Gardens and the Woodstock Road, the substantial properties in the quieter streets of Summertown, the converted farmhouses and country houses in the villages north and south of the city — these are residences that have been chosen for their character rather than their postcode, and they are entertained in with equivalent care.

Andrés works with Oxford clients who want their at-home entertaining to match the quality of what they already bring to the table in every other sense. A dinner party menu built around the season's finest produce, served with precision and without any visible effort, in a home that has been left exactly as it was found — this is the standard he brings to every engagement in and around the city.

Questions about hiring a

  • Andrés covers Oxford itself — North Oxford, Summertown, Headington, Jericho, Iffley — as well as the surrounding villages and countryside: Woodstock, Witney, Burford, Abingdon, and the Oxfordshire villages along the Ridgeway and into the Cotswolds. Travel costs for engagements outside central Oxford are agreed in advance.
  • Yes. Dinner parties that bring together academic colleagues, research partners, or a mix of professional and university guests are something Andrés manages with the same precision as any other occasion. The menu is always built around the specific character of the group and the occasion.
  • Yes. The area around Oxford offers some of the most beautiful country properties in England, and Andrés travels to engagements in the wider county regularly — both for one-off occasions and for clients with country houses who entertain there during the year.
  • The approach that works best in Oxford is exactly the one Andrés takes as standard: genuinely excellent seasonal cooking, technically accomplished but not ostentatious, built around ingredients at their best rather than around the performance of complexity. The food should be something to talk about, not something to talk at.
  • Andrés will always try to accommodate short notice when his schedule allows. For smaller, informal gatherings — a dinner for six or eight — a week's notice is often sufficient. For larger or more planned occasions, two to three weeks is ideal.
